Service and pricing

Service

Point the iPhone camera at a menu, sign, label, or readable text, or pick a user-selected photo from the album. Live translation can appear automatically. An optional shutter freezes the scene for save/share. Static UI follows the iPhone language when a localization exists; otherwise English.

Free usage

This installation includes 3 successful reads of new scenes. The free allowance does not renew each calendar month. A use is consumed only when a new fingerprint produces a valid overlay. Repeating the same scene does not consume another use. Empty/no-text scenes, failed detection, cancelled purchases, and analysis failures do not consume a use.

Travel Pass price

The exact localized price, currency, and taxes displayed by Apple in the app and purchase confirmation sheet govern the transaction. The reference price is US$9.99 for 30 days where applicable. It does not auto-renew.

Payment timing

Charged by Apple upon purchase confirmation. There is no automatic renewal charge.

Delivery

Unlimited supported reads become available after Apple confirms the entitlement, until purchaseDate + 30 days. After expiry, any remaining free reads on this installation become available again. No physical product is shipped.

On-device processing

Live camera frames are processed on the device. The app is not designed to upload scene images or recognized text to NEXTBASE, OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, or any NextBase AI server.

Apple Vision OCR reads visible text. Deterministic code parses prices when present and counts free uses. Apple Foundation Models may explain the visible text when available. If Foundation Models are unavailable, the app falls back to OCR + Apple Translation + deterministic price. Apple Translation may download language resources under Apple’s control.

Optional FX requests to Frankfurter send currency codes only, not photos.

Expiry, repurchase, and refunds

The 30-Day Travel Pass does not auto-renew. The pass ends 30 days after the verified purchase date. There is no cancellation instruction, because nothing renews. A new verified purchase starts a new 30-day period. Restore Purchases re-checks StoreKit. NEXTBASE cannot invent an entitlement. Refunds and billing disputes are handled by Apple.

Food safety

Do not eat food based only on an app overlay. Allergens and ingredients may be missing or mistranslated. Ask restaurant staff. Absence of a notice is not a safety clearance.
